Broadview Missionary Baptist Church of Broadview, IL elects new Senior Pastor

PRESS RELEASE: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Lord has led Broadview Missionary Baptist Church (BMBC) to elect Rev. Jasper Paul Taylor I as their next Pastor. After a sixteen month search, a seven member Pastoral Search Committee nominated Rev. Taylor, and 94% of the voting members affirmed him as their next shepherd. Rev. Taylor’s heart for God and God’s people, as well as his varied gifts and talents, tremendously impacted the members’ decision to select him as their next Pastor. He is a gifted minister of God’s word, visionary, singer, and songwriter, all of which are added blessings to the Broadview church family.

Rev. Taylor currently serves as the Executive Director of the Calahan Foundation NFP, a 501(c)(3) providing scholarships, college mentoring and community outreach. Prior to Rev. Taylor’s call to BMBC, he served as the Executive Pastor of St. Paul and Greater Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago, IL. In addition, Rev. Taylor served as the Third Vice-Moderator for the Christian Unity Baptist District Association and the Youth and Children’s Director for the Illinois Baptist State Convention. He has also lectured for the Congress of the National Baptist Convention of America International, Inc. Most recently the Chicago Defender recognized and inducted Rev. Taylor as a Man of Excellence.

Rev. Jasper Paul Taylor I is a fourth-generation ordained minister of the gospel. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Music and Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, IL. During his time at Olivet Nazarene, he gave leadership to the Proclamation Gospel Choir from 2007- 2017. He has also served as Worship Pastor of Kankakee First Church in Kankakee, IL. In 2018, he obtained his Master of Divinity degree from Northern Theological Seminary in Lisle, IL, where he earned the Bryan F. Archibald Award for Outstanding Preaching.

Chairman of the Deacon Board, Larry Lee - "On behalf of the entire Broadview family, we say welcome. True character shines through men of faith like Rev. Taylor. We are extremely blessed to have a strong, prayerful, dedicated, and faithful shepherd to guide and lead the flock at BMBC going forward".
Pulpit Search Committee Chair, Jacqueline Karriem - “It is with great joy and thanksgiving that our church family welcomes Rev. Taylor and his family. We are confident that God’s will has been done and are committed to following Rev. Taylor as he follows Christ.”

Rev. Taylor is married to Valerie Calahan-Taylor and they are blessed to have a vibrant and energetic son, Jasper Paul Taylor II.

Pastor Jasper, as he is affectionately called, will share his first sermon as Pastor on Sunday, January 1, 2023 at 11 a.m. Installation services will be announced later.
